10 on 10, December

It's that time again- December 10th and the arrival of 10 photos. November's 10 on 10  I posted some favorites from the month of November. This time I decided to do a series.

My oldest turned 5 in October. We finally got around to getting her 5 year check up. It feels like such an important age. She's not a toddler, not quite a big kid, but in school now. And she's so wonderful. Really. Don't just ask her mom. Cause you know what she'll say...

The R Family

Such an amazing fall day at the beach. Only in California, right? As far as I know anyway since I was born and raised here. :)

This family is not only gorgeous, but adventurous as well. They were totally game to climb on the rocks, get wet, and just play. It was a gorgeous day and really fun session. Thank you for being so willing R family!!

Boys and their bikes...

I met the mom of these young boys through Facebook. I was looking for a model and she contacted me. It didn't work out for what I needed, but her son is so adorable- I knew I had to photograph him. I learned he was really into racing his bike at the track. So we decided to photograph him doing what he loves. Along with his ridiculously cute little brothers. 

This was so much fun for me. I love to see people truly happy and in the moment. Those are the memories I want of myself and family. Total treasures to me. I hope these will be treasures for this sweet family. 

10 on 10, November

There are so many ways to get inspired, to inspire, to support others in this community of photographers in which I belong. The 10 on 10 project is one way. Every 10th day of the month you post 10 pictures. You can do day-to-day, themed, or just 10 faves from the last month. The awesome thing is it's not limited to photographers. Anyone can do it.

I belong to a group of female photographers who are constantly bouncing ideas off each other, posting pics for honest critiques, venting frustration and sharing joys...it's pretty amazing. We also view each others blogs consistently and offer up our praise!

Our blog circle is doing 10 on 10 together. At the bottom of my post you will find a link to another talented and amazing female photographer who is participating. Just follow the links- you're sure to see some fabulous work. :)

As for the 10th of November I'm going with a family/ daily events theme. It started as my faves from the last 30 days, but quickly changed into pics of my family (and feet). Without further ado...

1. Muddy feet. I'm not opposed to creating this opportunity.
2. Walking behind newspaper stands. Dirty, but makes a great image.
3. Baby toes. C'mon. Baby toes!
4. My dear friend snuggling my dear one. This photo is precious to me for many reasons.
5. She loves her Pa, my grandfather. He shares everything with her.
6. Just a quiet moment outside.  She was deep into thought and imaginative play.
7. My little gardener- she's a pixie.
8. Ahem...baby toes.
9. It's hard to leave them sometimes.
10. It's hard to leave him too. I hope he remembers me.

Skaters rule...

First I want to say how much fun this was!! I love to capture people when they are comfortable, doing something they do regularly with loved ones.

I photographed this Mom and son last year on a frigid winter morning, under a huge oak tree. The images really expressed the love they have for each other. I learned some things about them during the session. This pair love to skate together at the local middle school! I knew I wanted to eventually capture that in photographs.

I'm so happy with the resulting images!  It was so much fun to watch them let loose, and do what they love. You can really see how much fun they have together. What a fun mom! And a daring pair. I hope for more fun sessions like this....

H & P Engagement

A friend of mine referred me to this fun couple as a wedding photographer. After booking me, we started discussing ideas for the engagement shoot. They weren't sold on an idea of an engagement shoot- we talked about some different ideas and locations, but none really got them enthused.  After being in their home infused with art and style for a bit, and learning they both loved to read, we decided to style an "outdoor book" session. They were sold on the idea and totally committed to the shoot!

We decided to set their “home” up in a beautiful outdoor location. I purchased a sweet garland made of book pages from an Etsy seller, Smiley Wileys. We brought vintage and favorite books, furniture, rugs, and a Mickey Mouse that held special meaning to the bride. 

This couple was amazing! I had so much fun and loved the energy and attitude H & P had. I'm thrilled with how the photos came out. What an amazing session!
